Founded in 1979, the mission of the United Spinal Association Illinois Chapter (formerly Spinal Cord Injury Association of Illinois – SCIA) is to serve as a comprehensive resource center for individuals who have been personally affected by paralysis, those working in related fields, and other interested persons. The mission also includes working to prevent new injuries from happening.

USAIC seeks to fulfill this mission through a combination of services including Information and Referral, Peer Support, Education, and Injury Prevention. USAIC records are available for review upon request.
